The increment in the temperature caused by climate change, besides some people carelessness, has generated strong wildfires in different parts of the country, affecting large land extensions including ecological reserves

The National Defense Secretariat, through military personnel, has participated in the putting out of wildfires in support of relevant civil authorities, such as the Forestall National Commission (CONAFOR). Participating Military personnel have the material, equipment and necessary means to fight fires.

Nowadays, The National Defense Secretariat has Mexican Air force MI-8 and MI-17 helicopters equipped with heli-bucket with a capacity to hold 2,400 litters of water.
