Tropical Systems

Each year, in our country, the season of these systems starts on May 15 and ends on November 30, it is singular for the amount of precipitation and tropical systems which are expressed in progressive order as follows:

  • Tropical wave
  • Tropical disturbance
  • Tropical depression
  • Tropical storm.
  •  Hurricanes of different categories:

    • Category I, Normal Hurricane (119 – 153 K.P.H.)
    • Category II, Strong Hurricane (154 – 177 K.P.H.)
    • Category III, Very Strong Hurricane (178 – 209 K.P.H.)
    • Category IV, Great Hurricane (210 – 249 K.P.H.)
    • Category V, Super Hurricane (higher than 250 K.P.H.)

The National Defense Secretariat, through military personnel located in different parts of the country apply the DN-III-E Plan in coordination with civil authorities, it could be in a preventing way (evacuating people) or helping civil population when the effects of the hydro meteorological phenomenon have already caused some damage:

Military Shelters.

It provides accommodation, food and entertainment to the affected civilian population.

Collection Centers.

By means of which receives, organizes and distributes the food received for the benefit of the victims.

Airlift.

Consisting of Fixed Wing aircraft and rotary wing belonging to the Mexican Air Force, and through them, to organize the transfer of personnel, supplies and material to the affected area. In the same way were used for evacuation of people.

Cells medical and dental services.

Comprised of staff physicians, dentists, nurses and specialist consultations which impart the required population.

Community Kitchens.

Platforms made up with cooking equipment with capacity to produce and distribute food hygienically in a short time.

Cell Search, Search and Rescue.

Responsible for evacuating Civilians in those areas affected or not easily accessible to the different shelters or the homes of relatives or friends who are in secure areas.

Cleaning cells.

Responsible for evacuating the streets and avenues, the waste generated by the passage of the phenomenon.

Sanitation cells.

Responsible for evacuating the streets and avenues, the organic waste generated by the passage of the phenomenon, also performing fumigation activities.
