Military personnel won 20 gold medals, 6 silver medals, and 3 bronze medals during the Central American and Caribbean Games. * The National defense Secretariat congratulates its representatives on their outstanding participation.
The National Defense Secretariat informs the public that military personnel won 20 gold medals, 6 silver medals, and 3 bronze medals in several disciplines, as part of the Mexican sports delegation that took part in the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games held in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico; because of that, this federal Agency congratulate its representatives on their outstanding performance. Gold medals Equestrianism: Cavalry 1st Captain Jaime Velasquez Suarez, Cavalry 2nd Captain Jose Enrique Mercado Suarez, Cavalry Lieutenant Eric Arambula Viveros, and Office Clerk 1st Sergeant Abraham Gaspar Ojeda Serrano in full trial team event. Athletics: Signal Corps 2nd Sergeant Heraclio Eder Sanchez Teran in 20 km walk; Informatics Private Marisol Guadalupe Romero Rosales in Marathon; Infantry Soldier Horacio Nava Reza in 50 km walk. Modern Pentathlon: Infantry Private Oscar Soto Carrillo, in Individual category. Rowing: Infantry Corporal Horacio Rangel Ramirez in Lightweight Double Sculls; Infantry Private Leopoldo Tejeda Rios in Lightweight Four Sculls; Omar Tejeda Rios in Double Sculls. Diving: Infantry Private Yahel Ernesto Castillo Huerta in 3m Springboard, and along with civilian Alberto Argote in 3m Synchronized Springboard,. Archery: Infantry Private Juan Rene Serrano Gutierrez 30m, 50m, 70m, and 90m Individual Recurve, 70m Mixed Team Recurve, and 70m Individual Recurve, and a record-breaker in gold medals won; Infantry Soldier Eduardo Velez Sanchez in Olympic Competition Men’s Team,. Tae-Kwon-Do: Infantry Private Salvador Perez Rodriguez, over 87 kg category. Silver medals Equestrianism: Lieutenant Arambula Viveros in Individual Event Category. Modern Pentathlon: Infantry Private Oscar Soto Carrillo. Canoeing: Infantry Private Santos Marroquin Uribe in Kayak Four (K4) 1,000m. Diving: Infantry Private Yahel Ernesto Castillo Huerta in 1m Springboard; Infantry Private Rommel Aghmed Pacheco Marrufo in 10m Platform. Archery: Infantry Private Luis Eduardo Velez Sanchez in 30m Individual Recurve. Bronze medals Boxing: Infantry Private Braulio Avila Juarez in Flyweight-51kg. Judo: Infantry Private Nabor Castillo Perez, below 60kg and team category, two medals. It is worth mentioning that, in Archery, Infantry Private Luis Eduardo Velez Sanchez won 3rd place in the event 70m Individual Recurve; however, he did not receive a bronze medal because Mexico also won 1st and 2nd places and, in this case, the regulation says it is not possible a team from a single country receive the three medals. All personnel of this Secretariat celebrate to inform these triumphs which manifest discipline and effort of military personnel to exalt the name of our Armed Forces and country in theses sports competitions. -0-0-0-0-0-
