The Mexican Army seized over 16 million mexican pesos in the municipality of Guadalupe, N.L.



  • Eight persons were detained. 

The National Defense Secretariat informs that within the framework of the Permanent Campaign against Drug Trafficking and enforcement of the Federal Firearms and Explosives Law, on the above date, troops of the 7th Military Zone, seized $16’539,690.00 Mexican pesos and 27,211.00 US Dollars. This event happened in the Fraccionamiento Riveras de Linda Vista, municipality of Guadalupe, N.L., during land reconnaissance by military. They noticed a man carrying a firearm, who, when detecting the military presence, tried to escape by entering a building on Santa Catarina street in the above municipality; thereby, they searched the building. Inside the house, in addition to the armed individual, troops found seven other persons (5 men and 2 women), who were counting a large amount of money and wrapping it in envelopes. In addition to the seized cash, troops also seized 1.700 Kg of white powder, apparently it was cocaine, 200 kg of packed marihuana, 80 different-caliber rounds, 2 long guns, 7 different magazines, 3 vehicles and diverse telephone and computing equipment. Military activities were subject to juridical guidelines specified for criminal flagrancy, with respect, at all times, for the fundamental rights of people. The detainees, drug, firearms, vehicles and cash, were turned over to the corresponding authorities.
