During a fire attack to Military Personnel CARLOS ALBERTO FERNÁNDEZ HERNÁNDEZ (a.k.a.) “Doble K” was killed, he was the chief of the place in Ciudad Victoria, Tamps., for the criminal group “Los Zetas”.
The National Defense Secretariat informs the public opinion that within the Mexican State's Integral Strategy against drug trafficking and Organized Crime and in order to weaken in a definitive manner the structure of criminal groups, Mexican Army personnel in support of public security functions in the state of Tamaulipas, on July 13, 2012 while performing land reconnaissance in Ciudad Victoria, Tamps., were fire attacked by the organized crime, as a result, protecting their integrity, the military repelled the aggression in which four aggressors died including CARLOS ALBERTO FERNÁNDEZ HERNÁNDEZ (a.k.a.) “Doble K”, chief of the place of Ciudad Victoria, Tamps., for the criminal group Los Zetas.

FERNÁNDEZ HERNÁNDEZ was identified as one of the personal assistants of HERIBERTO LAZCANO LAZCANO (a.k.a.) “El Lazca”, who was in charge of different activities such as leasing and buying houses and vehicles used in the drug trafficking.

Last March, FERNÁNDEZ HERNÁNDEZ was appointed as chief of the place of Ciudad Victoria, Tamps, and municipalities nearby, in order to take over criminal activities such as transportation of drug, kidnappings, combustible stealing, and extortions to entrepreneurs and merchants in that area of the country.

FERNÁNDEZ HERNÁNDEZ along with GREGORIO VILLANUEVA SALAS (a.k.a.) “El Zar de la Piratería”. Detained on June 11, 2012 by military personnel in Monterrey, N.L., participated in the organized attacks with fragmentation grenades against facilities of communication means, schools and businesses in Matamoros, Tamps., between May 31, to June 4, 2012.

Two long guns, two handguns, 811 rounds of ammunition for different calibers, 35 magazines for different firearms, $ 38,900.00 pesos (29,870 US Dollars), different tactic equipment and communication means were seized during those events.

This results are part of the works carried out by military personnel in support of civil authorities in that federal state, in order to weaken in a decisive manner the directive, financial, operational and logistical structures in the region; mainly applying principles of coordination, concentration of force and unity of objective in a simultaneous and surprise manner, which has allowed that during the period of time of July 7 to 13, 2013, 15 people who were allegedly kidnaped were freed and 30 individuals were detained in flagrancy, the following material was also seized:

  • 104 firearms (92 long guns and 12 handguns)
  • 24,234 rounds of ammunition for different calibers.
  • 472 magazines for different firearms.
  • 13 grenades
  • 4 grenade launchers.
  • 774 kilograms of marijuana.
  • 635 doses of marijuana.
  • 4 doses of cocaine in dust.
  • 9 doses of cocaine in rock.
  • 3,144 psychotropic pills.
  • 39 vehicles (2 armored).
  • On pipe.
  • Three Semi trucks.
  • Two liquid tanks trailers.
  • Two motorcycles.
  • 70,800 liters of gasoline.
  • Different tactic and radio communication equipment.

The National Defense Secretariat endorses its commitment with the Mexicans to continue fighting in a committed and decisive manner all manifestation of organized crime, applying the law against those who affect the principles of the rule of law and threaten security, stability, and confidence of all Mexicans
